Our very own Outreach Specialist, Carey Creenan, appeared on WNY Living, a program on WGRZ, to discuss all things Consumer Directed Personal Assistance. Watch the full conversation below, or read our recap!
What is the CDPA Program?
Finding the right care that allows you to stay in your home can be confusing and difficult. Trusted Choice Homecare is a local agency that works with the Medicaid community to help them get homecare. Through CDPA, consumers can hire someone they already know and trust to take care of them, and the service is completely covered by Medicaid.
How Does Compensation Work?
Once the consumer decides who they want to bring in as their caregiver, they become the boss. Trusted Choice Homecare is a Fiscal Intermediary, handling the payroll and acting as a go between for the consumer/aid and New York State. We work with most major insurance companies across the state including Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, and we have long-standing relationships with the Department of Social Services local offices. Our dedicated Customer Care team is here to serve our community to make the process as simple and easy as possible.
What Are the Qualifications for CDPA?
To be qualified for the CDPA program, a consumer must:
- Be enrolled in Medicaid
- Have been assigned a set amount of long-term care hours by their insurance company
- Have an aid or caregiver
Trusted Choice Homecare is the last step in the CDPA process, but we can assist with guiding consumers to the right people and places.
